Saw your post. Hope all is well. Lol.....but the grey areas and loopholes you reference some may refer to as drivers rights! When a driver feels he or she is 'wronged' all racing associations i have ever heard of have a 'appeal' process to address such issues. In the case of APBA those remedies come in the form of the SORC. The SORC is a ELECTED nation wide panel empowered to deal with such matters. This is where a driver comes to seek justice from perhaps inspectors or race committee's that may have 'got it wrong' so to speak. While black and white rules may sound nice.........sometimes even the best of inspectors and race committees get it wrong every now and then and that's where the SORC has to be there for it's DRIVERS!! Just a thought. Have a nice Thanksgiving!!

      Matt:

I'm just living the dream, as usual. I hope you're doing well too.

I think I might not have been clear as I could have been in my response to Big Don's post. I am all for drivers' rights, and in no way want to diminish them. All I am looking for is a clear consequence of any given rule. For lack of a better example, in the 2012 Rule Book (which appears to be no longer available online), when one finally gets to the bottom of a pickle fork violation, the rule stated a warning OR disqualification (which is vague and ambiguous at best, opening the door for further appeal.) The SORC interpreted the rule correctly, was justified in overturning the Inspector, thus protecting the driver's (your) rights. I am more in favor of the rule been written akin to, "... a first violation of the rule results in a written warning to be filed with the owner, driver, and APBA; and the driver is admonished to correct the violation prior to the next heat of racing into which the boat is participating. A second violation results in a disqualification."

This to me is very clear, and still protects the driver. Even though the boat passed several inspections, it eventually failed. Unfortunately, it was at Nationals. Had the rule been more clearly worded, a warning would have been issued, George would fix the boat, and this whole disaster would have been averted.

Before I quit using HR, I heard a lot of criticism of APBA rules and have been thinking long and hard about them (the pickle fork rule in particular). I still stand by my earlier opinion that we need fewer rules, and that the rules we do keep need to be very carefully worded and comprehensive to an overwhelming audience.

Have a nice Thanksgiving as well!

Richard Hearn...................i tried to update my profile and when i got to the bottom and clicked 'save' the hourglass appeared and the computer froze the same way it does when i click on 'more' at the bottom of the activity front page. My guess is your software is so slick it is designed for 'new' computers. I have a 2005 Dell Dimension 2400. I encountered this issue in the past with a few anti-virus programs that can't accomodate older model computers. I know other members are having this issue also with your site. Besides buying a new computer what is the answer??????

Matt, you have to have some national championships to make updating your profile worth while! JK. I've submitted your issue to apba@crownpartners.com and they should get back to you.

      Hey Matt,
I'm guessing its a browser/connection issue, as we've tried it on multiple machines at the crown office and haven't been able to duplicate the problem...we will look into fixing the compatibility issues in our next bug fix

Works OK for me, Matt. Maybe you need to trade in the Commodore 64..... Should have seen Mel at Alex; he was running pretty good with the guys from the northern regions.

Not bashing MHRA for lack of results from Grass Lake or Big Rarids. Heck, Lock Haven doesn't seem able to post either. Ryan Runne has been on line begging for the club to post results!!...........I am sure the last thing most scorers want to do is sit in front of Hydroracer and spend an hour doing that. Thamk god we got Aimie Pond and Howie down here. Lol.

I know it is a paperwork nightmame for a chief scorer to manually get all the race results compiled onto 'paper forms' and then mail them to APBA within 2 weeks of the conclusion of a race. Maybe this old school method and scoring system can be revamped to get info out to us members in a more timely fashion!??

We had a great discussion out in San Diego with Kim Liddycoat around the scoring processes and ways that it can be improved upon, it's definitely on our radar

Cool............Hydroracer has spoiled a bunch of us who look to it for fast info.I know the scoring system is time consuming. Hopefully a updated program can be devrloped for scoring to be less time consuming and quicker to compile and get into headquarters!

Hmmmm. In our region, the outboard scoring has been done in an Access database for years. I can get full results in 1-7 days from our scorers - and we use a printout of Saturday results at awards that night. The region to the south developed an online race registration system years ago that we still use. There is a prototype system that's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years that supposedly merges the two concepts.

Wouldn't it be nice to have APBA or MHRA publish the results from it's races say with in a day or two of the event???? It would be nice to see on Hydroracer or this site those results to help us all 'stay connected'. Laurie Snyder did a great job of getting the Pleasant Praire results on Hydroracer this week!! I would think this new project could handle that!

Two days are insane-just speaking from a chief scorer viewpoint. But, I do post my results of all 85 entries by day for Top O Michigan including times. I post at the top o site
http://www.tomorc.com/tomorc.com/Welcome.html. But a caution is that when you make a mistake all heck breaks loose. I do not know if Cindy would be able to check all results that fast at APBA even with a computer generated program.
